ABOUT
History
Clifton’s Botany Village is one of the oldest and most historic areas of Clifton. At the turn of the century and throughout the early 1900s, the area was a thriving industrial community, home to generations of workers employed by the silk and wool mills that helped establish Clifton as an important center of textile manufacturing.
The mills provided employment for thousands of people and played an important role in the local economy and the broader American textile and wool industry. The community that grew around these factories helped shape the character and history of what is now known as Botany Village.
The area takes its name from the Botany Worsted Mills, one of the major textile mills that once operated in the community.
Our Goals
Clifton’s Historic Botany Village believes that the strength of our community is demonstrated not only through the values we stand for, but through the actions, programs, and initiatives we put into place.\
In 2000, our nonprofit organization recognized that by working together, local businesses, residents, community leaders, and volunteers could address challenges more effectively and create greater opportunities for the future. That vision led to the formation of Clifton’s Historic Botany Village, with a mission to bring the community together, support local businesses, preserve the character and history of Botany Village, and promote its continued growth and revitalization.
Today, we remain committed to that same spirit of collaboration and continue working together to build a stronger and more vibrant Historic Botany Village.
Activities
The Clifton Historic Botany Village Special Improvement District works to strengthen our community through programs, events, partnerships, and initiatives that bring people together and support the continued growth of Historic Botany Village.
Our activities are designed to create opportunities for local businesses, residents, and community partners to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the future of the Village. From community events and business initiatives to beautification efforts, promotional activities, and new development opportunities, we are committed to making Historic Botany Village a welcoming, active, and thriving destination.
Through collaboration and community involvement, we continue to identify new opportunities, pursue funding and grants, support local businesses, and develop initiatives that celebrate the history and character of Botany Village while looking toward its future.
We believe that a strong community is built by working together, and we invite businesses, residents, organizations, and community members to join us in shaping the future of Historic Botany Village.
